Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8)Lover Mine by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For the past few books, this was the story I was waiting for. I really wanted to know what was going to happen with John. Ward didn't disappoint either as this was a great story. This one is my favorite of the series so far. I love it so much that it only took me about a day to read it.

You finally get to see John "come of age." He is now a strong vamp and he truly has something to live for, Xhex. I will say that the part with Wellsie's mating gown, just was sad. Tohr letting Xhex wear it really showed that he is happy for John and her to have the life that he had.

On a side note it will be interesting to see where Ward takes the subplot with Mhurder.

Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7)Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After the last two books in this series were so-so, I was worried that this one would be as well. I was starting to feel that my interest was waning. Oh how Ward redeemed herself. This one was full of plot twists, romance, sadness, life. I could go on and on.

Up until this point I always felt that Rhevenge was a good character but not "own" book worth. Ward has proven me wrong on that, he was worthy of his own book. This book really gets into the relationship between the sympaths and the vamps. You get a great view of the colony and how it works. I did find it interesting that for the most part they just wanted to be left alone. They were made out to be a lot more evil than they seem.

Ehlena's character was closer to what the other woman in the first few books was like. She held her own against the men of this series. This was a nice change of pace from the last two books.

All in all this was a great read and the next one in the series will hopefully stay up to this standard.

Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6)Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While I do feel that this one is better than Ward's last BDB book. I'm still kinda meh. For some reason I just couldn't get into Phury's story. For the most part I glossed over his pages. I did however like all of the other developments with the BDB and the Society. As well as John's story. Ward really does a great job blending the different story lines together, so that even though I didn't care for Phury's part, I still was able to enjoy the continuing background stories.

Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5)Lover Unbound by J.R. Ward

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I so wanted to love this book. V is such a great character, mix him with a little bit of Phury and John's story lines and it had so many chances to be great. Instead it was like opening Door Number 3 and winning a donkey instead of the new car. Wah wah waahhhh.

First off there is Jane, who really is kinda ho-hum. Sure she is this hot shot surgeon and she obviously has the surgeon type ego to go with her but that's about it. She isn't that strong of a character compared to the other women. OK, so I could have gotten over that, but then she dies. However the oh so wonderful Scribe Virgin decides that her son has been shafted enough and lets her come back as a ghost. Thanks Mom!

Then there is the whole Primale ordeal. Look girls you get this edgy, hunk of a man, who will not only rock your world but introduce you to kink. He loves sex and will do you all up right. (insert girly squeals) Wait.. hold on... there is a last minute substitution..you get... umm Phury? (Cue that sad trombone again.) That's right girls, instead of the dark, dreamy hunk you get... Phury. Yes he's still a Warrior, but there's more to him than that. See he not only whines like a little bitch but you guessed it he's celibate!

I would have given this one star, but I was entertained so it earns two stars for that.

Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4)Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Book 4 in the series is all about Butch and his role in the Brotherhood.

As you recall if you have read the previous books, Butch has become part of the Brotherhood even though he isn't a Vamp. He was pulled in due to his relationship with Beth (Wrath's wire). He is now questioning his role and whether or not he really should be with them.

While Butch's story is okay, I really enjoyed Marissa's growth in this book. She seemed like such a lightweight when we previously met her and here we find out that she does have a backbone. It is due to her part in this book that I gave this review a 3 rather than 2 star rating.

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Book 3 in the series and we get to find out about Zsadist and Bella. Ward does a great job keeping these books moving and for me they are a quick read.

At the end of Book 2 Bella is taken by the Lessening Society and for this one we get her returning to the Brotherhood and her adjustment back to life.

I liked how Bella turned to Zsadist for comfort but at the same time didn't put up with his crap. I also like the fact that the women in Ward's books are strong on their own and not meek like other women in similar type books.

All in all it was a good read.

The Restorer (The Graveyard Queen, #1)The Restorer by Amanda Stevens

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I quite enjoyed this book. When I read the synopsis I was taken in by the heroine's profession. Professional Grave Restorer, this was not something I had heard of before but that was enough of a crumb to get me to pick this book up.

At first the general plot line seemed predictable, but the more pages I turned I realized that there was a whole lot more going on. It had a great combination of action, scary parts, romance, and mystery to be a book that I could not put down. It pulled me in a sucked me down.

This is a great first book for a new series. I finished it wanting more, and can't wait to read the next book. I can only hope that it will be as engaging as this one!
